Mentorship
Mentoring and training future researchers and health communication professionals is an important part of the work we do! See below for information about potential opportunities. Note, Dr. Moran is typically not able to take informational meetings with potential trainees.
Current BSPH students: Our lab has worked with dozens of students who have made valuable contributions to our work. Students have worked with us via positions as research assistants, field placements, research hours, capstone projects, and special studies. Current students at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health seeking paid student RA opportunities can find our job postings on the JHU Smile website. We also will post opportunities on this website. If there are no active postings, then we are not currently hiring. We also sometimes have the ability to work with students pursuing capstone or final projects. If you are interested in working with us in that regard, please email Dr. Moran your CV and brief (e.g. 3-5 bullet points) description of the work you'd like to pursue. This website will give you an idea of our current active projects, though you may also propose something related but different.
Postdoctoral and early career trainees: Postdoctoral and early career mentorship a great opportunity to work with emerging researchers doing exciting work! Trainees seeking post-doctoral or early career mentorship may email Dr. Moran directly with a copy of your CV to discuss opportunities for potential mentorship. At this time, our lab is not actively hiring postdoctoral trainees, though Dr. Moran may be able to mentor postdoctoral students with independent funding (e.g. K99).
Potential applicants: Students interested in applying to the doctoral program in Social and Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health may find information about the program here. Our program uses a centralized admissions process, so if you are interested in working with me, you may mention Dr. Moran's name in your application and describe the fit with your interests and trajectory. Dr. Moran is not typically able to respond individually to emails or meet with prospective students. You may also email Grace Bryant at HBS PhD Admissions (HBS_PhD_Admissions@jh.edu) with any questions.
